I love paisleys! When asked to think about paisleys, people have so many different visions enter their mind. Some people think wild, crazy, psychedelic colors with elaborate paisleys. Others think about their favorite silk business tie. Paisleys are just like that—beautiful, unique, and perfect for anything. I like to think of my designs like that, too. It is a great inspiration.
Arts? Well, I was not satified with just using the word design. Great word that covers a lot of areas, but not big enough. Arts covers it all for me from design to photography to poetry to singing to altered books. Like a lovely umbrella that encompasses all my passions.
The paisley design motif is also known as cashmere, not to be confused with the woolen textile. Resembling a large comma, or kidney shape, paisley is one of the most recognized patterns in the world.
In Indian culture, the Paisley was originally an illiterate way for village people to communicate that it was harvest time. They would put ink on the side of their fist and stamp it places so that people would know it was time for harvest. This symbol was later adapted in design form in artwork and elaborated upon by the town of Paisley.
Fender Guitars made a Pink Paisley version of their Telecaster guitar, by sticking paisley wallpaper onto the guitar bodies.
